Todd's Profile

Todd L. Kay has been a Socorro, New Mexico resident for over 32 years.  Upon moving from Colorado after high school he attended The New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (BS Geology '83).  With little to no jobs in the field of petroleum in that year, he created TBT Industries Inc. and began making furniture and cabinets.  You would think that building wood based picture frames from scratch would be a natural progression; but, it was Todd's wife Marilyn (married since 1989) that actually gave him the idea of framing pictures.  Socorro Picture Framing was born and became a subsidiary of TBT in 1986.  Since then Todd and Marilyn have continued to offer "big city" variety and quality framing to all who enter their "small town" frame shop and art gallery.  Over the years they have become one of only two or three fully automated frame shops in New Mexico.  To keep up with new techniques and products, Todd has been attending the National Conferences each year since 1993 and has completed over 500 hours of picture framing classes, workshops and round table discussions dealing with interior design, frame system design, color and style theory, and installations; as well as operations in computerized mat cutting, frame assembly, and specialized framing project design including, but not limited to, shadow boxes, collages and personalized frame and mat systems for private and commercial display.
With over 25 years of framing experience Todd has completed over 20,000 pieces of art for clients all over the United States and continues to provide his professional expertise to 100's of customers around the country.  Local government offices as well as many business and schools proudly display the art and photos that incorporate group accomplishment as well as personal accolades of their students and staff all professionally framed by Todd Kay of Socorro Picture Framing.
